I wanted a rough-looking microcement on the bathroom walls and floor. I had already fallen in love with the material during the renovation of a previous apartment, where we did the microcementing ourselves on the empty straight walls of the kitchen. For the bathroom, however, I would recommend a professional, as the bathroom, with its many corners and tiles, is quite a demanding object.
First, the plumber removed the toilet seat, the taps and the washing machine. The toilet seat left a good lump of concrete, luckily the plumber was able to pry it off.Beneath the existing slab, history is revealed. The cream-coloured hexagonal tiles are probably the original choice for the bathrooms.To remove the old radiator on the wall, the plumber needed a maintenance company to turn off the hot water. No-one could be reached from the maintenance company, so there was a day's delay. The next day, the hot water shut-off had to be found on the garage side and shut off from there. And a curious revelation, as the wall around the radiator had not been tiled at all, apparently...Then the micro-cement man enters the scene. It starts on the first floor of the walls.The fibreglass mesh reinforces the material and ensures that it stays in the wall.Millin thin layers come in several layers. At this stage, the shape of the tiles still echoes through the micro-cement base.Progress is being made.It's starting to look relevant.After the walls, the floor tiles started to become covered.Oh well, now you're starting to get an idea of what the end result will look like. Microcementing a small bathroom is relatively more work than a large space, as there are more corners and challenges per square metre. And, of course, the working space is small. The easiest stage of the renovation! The microcement has been varnished, so the plumber could carefully move the toilet seat into place. It's also a thrill to have a new shower in the wall. A shiny chrome shines against a matt microcement.The end result is a pleasant feeling lacquered surface on the walls and floor of the bathroom, visually the finish is vivid, the handprint is visible, absolutely delicious, lovely. The shade blends beautifully with the background of the furniture, it is soothing and beautiful.
