The idea of changing the whole bathroom started with my long coveted Woodio wooden sink. When the opportunity came my way, I snapped up the offer in May, four months before the upcoming renovation. At that point, I didn't even know if I could get permission from the building society to renovate the bathroom and what other changes I might make. But I had a sink. The colour shade is called Arctic, in shades of dark blue, charcoal grey, black. The shade was going out of stock, so I was lucky enough to see an offer that caught my eye to get this treat. So the sink is wood, it's made of a durable wood composite.

When the pool had arrived, I started to develop an opinion on other materials. For the beautiful pool, I had to choose a sink cabinet that would beautifully support this delicacy. The bathroom is small, the dimensions are precise and the space in the width direction is 50cm maximum. On the other hand, the depth needed to be at least 40cm, as the pool is square. I found zero ready-made options.

From old board I've always liked, so this was the perfect opportunity to have a carpenter make a custom-made sink cabinet with doors made from old board. I threw Woodsaver's Einar a sketch of the idea and he more than took the hint. He came up with the idea of an oak top and birch veneer frame for the cabinet. I had drawn the loading of the door boards in a herringbone pattern and he modeled the selected boards beautifully in shades and made the doors super pretty. The sink cabinet is lacquered to be very water resistant. The hook in the journey was that the gorgeous old boards the carpenter had reserved were lost. It wasn't the carpenter's fault, the disappearance was out of his hands. We had to find a replacement old board on the fly. Fortunately, a wood-loving friend of mine found a perfectly good one. Following the forms. With Einar from Woodsaver, we looked for a table top to match the rounding of the sink edges, and later I looked for a tap with the same rounding angle. Whether it was deliberate on my part or just intuitively chosen to match exactly, you never know. But in retrospect, the repetition of shapes is a joy to behold.

Hand-washing station is a dream come true, I could just admire the pool cabinet combination forever. But there's life outside the bathroom, so I'm always leaving every now and then. And the cabinet will be updated later with wrought iron triangular pulls. 

This way I'm gradually showing the details of the bathroom in sections, there are still a few things missing from the whole, then when they're done I'll show everything.
