Don't sand out any of your imperfections

Such old chairs arrived for me to work on. The many layers of paint were a testament to the life I had seen, and the size of the paintings, slightly smaller than today's standards, revealed the image of the times. The chairs were to be sanded and painted in Tikkurila's "Tikkimetsä" shade. The intention was not to cover the debris with a masking paint, but to leave the authentic wood feel visible.

The biggest job is always the goal clearance. I'd heat the paint and roll it off and sand it like crazy.

There was also a reddish-brown layer underneath.

The chairs were probably at their most fascinating when they were naked like this.

We're done. These graceful chair sisters would fit in my apartment too. Waiting for pickup like this.

Rubbish is not repaired, it is nicely ironed into a new life.
