A barren nice space for sex

I had a great opportunity to get to use my interior design brain in a new office space that was clean, but barren and a bit bare. Start-up company Premis makes software, and is quite a trendy breath of fresh air in the somewhat dusty world of hosting. Premis offers a property data management and ERP system, essentially a service that makes it easier to manage property management and property data.

I went to the office, where I was told what I wanted in terms of a change in the atmosphere of the space. They wanted sexiness, a start-up stamp, a building and design vibe. I took notes on a huge roll of paper, the only thing I could get my hands on in the almost paperless office.

I made a plan, with a sofa wall painted blue as an essential element. I chose a broken trendy denim blue, which was still very close to the colour of the company logo. Plants were also chosen to add a cosy touch, more nails in the hallway for practicality, a box of drawers to get the extra stuff out of sight. Carpets in matching colours and quirky cushions also made the list. As the space gets hot in summer, a stylish fan was also chosen.

On the blue wall I designed three interior tables. We decided to commission aluminium boards with cityscapes in keeping with the company's theme. The boards were made in duotone, i.e. black and white images with a bluish tint. This gives a cohesive, elegant look to the images. The board closest to the window has sunrays, the next one has daylight and the one furthest from the window has night. I named the paintings "Near", "Next" and "Far".

I took the familiar Remontti-Pert to paint the wall blue and at the same time I painted it myself to learn. The opposite wall of the blue wall was in danger of being left a bit bare, and Remontti-Pertti had a great idea while painting, which would crown the whole office in a stunning way. The white wall opposite the blue wall would be covered in birch plywood with the Premis logo. A big, impressive wooden logo would be made and painted blue. The plywood would be a few centimetres thick, so it would stand out from the wall beautifully. LED lights would be placed behind this wooden artwork, so that the logo on the wall would act as a mood light! It could even be kept on after office hours in the evening, so it would be visible from the window to the street. The idea was inspired and it was implemented.

All in all, this office Changing the mood of the space was interesting and fun for me, and I thank the Premis team for their trust and enthusiastic attitude!
