Artek chair 68 -modification

School furniture an old Artek chair rescued from the disposal pile, with a broken backrest, nail polish on the seat and gum on the bottom. The chair needed and deserved a refurbishment. Thanks to an acquaintance for spotting the chair!

Chair material is birch, birch plywood and white laminate on the seat. The chair required gluing, sanding and painting. I wanted to do a curious, metallic artwork painting on the chair. A reborn look.

Here's a well-worn starting point. Red nail polish still on the surface. Sanding from now on. Had to fix the backrest, remove the gum from the bottom. The wood parts were otherwise in good condition, just needing sanding.
Sprayed intermediate stage. I spray painted the chair in the summer at the back of the yard, with black and rose gold spray paints. The process was very fast, I took the photos in a calm situation.
Painting finished.
Chairs in every corner.
The narrow backrest support distinguishes chair 68 from other Aalto chairs.
The painting wraps around the back.
Darkens on the way down, lightens on the way up.
Characteristic curved legs.
Round seat.
A cloud of curiosity awaits the seated.
